Mostly yes, with one hard limit. Sleeve length, waist, and overall length are all straightforward for any tailor and typically cost £20 to £50. The shoulder width is the exception: on a structured, canvassed sherwani, changing it means rebuilding the garment and is rarely worth doing. Buy to your shoulder measurement and treat everything else as adjustable.

An unbranded or high-street sherwani usually sells between £60 and £150. Designer and heavily embroidered groom pieces typically sit between £150 and £500, with couture and bespoke commissions going higher. Given that a new groom sherwani frequently costs £600 to £1,500, this is one of the largest savings anywhere on the site.

A kurta is the simplest — a loose tunic, usually unstructured, worn for everyday and lighter occasions. An achkan is a fitted, knee-length coat, traditionally plainer and often worn buttoned to the collar. A sherwani is the most formal of the three: structured, usually longer, and typically the most heavily embroidered. In practice UK sellers use sherwani and achkan fairly interchangeably, so read the photographs rather than the label.

Increasingly common, and for a straightforward reason. A groom's sherwani is worn once, is usually the single most expensive item a man will ever buy for a day, and comes out of the wardrobe in near-perfect condition. Many of the pieces here were worn for one baraat. Have it dry cleaned and fitted and nobody can tell the difference.

Allow six to eight weeks. That covers postage, a dry clean if it needs one, and crucially a tailor's appointment plus a second fitting. Alterations on structured menswear take longer than on an unlined outfit, and tailors are busiest during wedding season, which is exactly when you will need one.

Listing is free. Photograph it on a hanger rather than folded, because a sherwani's whole appeal is that it holds its shape. Give the four measurements buyers actually search on — shoulder, chest, sleeve and back length — rather than a size label, since menswear sizing varies wildly between Pakistani, Indian and UK makers. State plainly whether the churidar and stole are included.
