The sangeet is the music and dance night before the wedding, hosted by one family or both, and in the UK it is very often folded into the mehndi to make one long mehndi-and-sangeet evening. Hem Length and Shoes

A floor-length lehenga and a dance routine do not mix. Ask the length from the waist in centimetres and decide on your shoes first; most performers end up in flats or a low block heel.

Sequins and Mirror Work

Mirror work and sequins shed along the hem, under the arms and across the seat, exactly where a dancing outfit rubs. Ask for close-ups of those areas and count on a few missing pieces being normal.

Dupatta or No Dupatta

Many sangeet looks skip the dupatta or pin it as a belt. Ask whether it is included and whether it has been pre-pleated, because a loose dupatta on stage is a hazard.

Room to Move in the Blouse

Raising your arms in a tight sleeve or a fitted back is the most common complaint after a sangeet. Ask for the sleeve, armhole and back measurements, not just the bust.

Colour Against the Family Theme

Families often set one or two colours per side. Ask for a daylight photo and a short video so the shade is true, because sequinned fabric shifts more than anything else under phone cameras.
