A lehenga is the most expensive thing in most South Asian wardrobes and the least worn. A bridal lehenga costs £800 to £3,000 new, is photographed from every angle for one day, and then hangs in a wardrobe for a decade. It is not worn out. There was simply never a second occasion heavy enough for it.
That is exactly why it sells. Somewhere a family is planning a wedding, a walima or a mehndi, and the outfit they want is the one in your wardrobe at a price that works for them. You recover several hundred pounds that was otherwise sitting still, and the lehenga gets worn again.

What Moves the Price

Condition of the hem
A bridal lehenga drags. Buyers zoom in on the hem first, so photograph it honestly and mention any dry cleaning.
Measurements, not a size
Waist, lehenga length, blouse bust and blouse length in centimetres. Indian, Pakistani and UK sizes all differ and a size label tells a buyer almost nothing.
Weight
A heavy bridal lehenga can weigh 4 to 6 kg. Say so in the listing: postage is calculated at checkout and buyers like no surprises.
How to Sell a Lehenga Well

Photograph the whole set in daylight
On a hanger or a mannequin next to a window, then close-ups of the embroidery, the choli and the hem. One short video of the lehenga moving beats ten photographs.

Measure the lehenga and the choli separately
Waist and length for the lehenga, bust, length and sleeve for the choli. Say whether the waist is elasticated or drawstring and how much room the blouse seams have for a tailor.

Name the occasion it was worn for
Bridal, walima, mehndi, an engagement, a family wedding as a guest. Buyers search by the event they are dressing for far more than by the word lehenga.

Declare alterations and flaws
A taken-in waist, a replaced hook, a mark on the hem, a dupatta that has been trimmed. Declared flaws lose you very little; discovered ones lose the sale and the review.

When to List a Lehenga
Timing changes how fast a lehenga sells more than price does. Families shop in waves: the four to six weeks before Eid, the run-up to Diwali, the summer wedding season from May to September, and the winter wedding season from late October into January. Listing inside those windows puts your lehenga in front of people who have a date in the diary.
